"WHO IS JOHN GALT"

(Hint: He’s not a Democrat.)

The only time in my life I engaged in graffiti…was to write those words. I’ll spare you (and myself) the details right now. But I’m thinkin’ them more and more these days. Right now I’m reading Time Bandit by the “Deadliest Catch” guys. Really good read. Written by and about people who know how to take care of themselves…who understand hard work and accept the risks they’ve chosen to take…who resent the interference of the nanny state.  (And you thought it was just about crab fishing.)

This morning I was listening to the radio and I hear the audio from the interview below. Part of me can’t believe what I’m hearing…another part of me is screaming…”WHO IS JOHN GALT?” I guess as soon as I’m done with Time Bandit…going to have to read Atlas Shrugged again. Truth being stranger and much scarier than fiction.

Anyone know the way to Galt’s Gulch?

I OWE, I OWE...

…it’s off to work I go. :-(

Yes, vacation is over.  “Time to get up and do it again.” So while I’m struggling for the “legal tender”…with Jackson Browne playing in my head…here’s something for you to think about.

Drill here, drill now, pay less.  Keep some of that legal tender!

Thanks to Mary Engelbreit (again) and Rodger Thomas.

"THE QUEEN OF EVERYTHING"

DebbieK claims to be the oldest NeoCon on the Web.  That may be…but one thing’s for sure, *I’m* not getting any younger.  So today, while waging jihad on the weeds in what was the main veggie garden…soon to be grassed in because the veggie garden is being moved closer to the house…. an idea came to me.  All the time I was yanking those noxious intruders out of the ground I was thinking about my apple tree that was just yards away.  It’s not going to be there much longer.  I thought about being a little kid and climbing as high as I could to hide from my brother and sister.  Thought about….all the thinking I did…up in that tree…hidden amongst the branches and leaves and growing apples feeling like the “Queen of Everything” (Mary Engelbreit again.)  And I realized that since that poor old tree’s days are numbered…and my best tree climbing days are behind me…I’d better do what I’d been thinking about all day long…..

I climbed my tree!

And then I went back to the weeds!  There’s a lesson in there somewhere…I was just happy the sun was shining, I was winning the war on the weeds and I could still climb my tree.  Life is good

MORE JUNE BIRTHDAYS....HOOAH!

More on our flag and it’s history.

More on the 233rd birthday of the U. S. Army.

"I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him." ~Abraham Lincoln

"Cheers for the sailors that fought on the wave for it,
Cheers for the soldiers that always were brave for it,
Tears for the men that went down to the grave for it,
Here comes the flag!"
~Arthur Macy, The Flag

"That piece of red, white and blue bunting means five thousand years of struggle upwards. It is the full-grown flower of ages of fighting for liberty. It is the century plant of human hope in bloom." ~Alvin Owsley

WEDNESDAY HERO

Army Spc. Jeffrey A. Williams

Army Spc. Jeffrey A. Williams
20 years old from Warrenville, Illinois
Support Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment
September 5, 2005
U.S. Army

SPC. Jeffery A. Williams was killed in action when an IED was detonated near his combat patrol in Tal Afar, Iraq.

Your time with us was far too short
Dealing with your loss will be hard,
When I think about what this world has lost
I want to just shut out the world and cry,
But I will not do that.
Because you gave your life for something much greater than you or I
So, I will remember you as the Hero that you are
And never let what you did in your life cut short be forgotten
And that is the best way I know to honor you

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.
We Should Not Only Mourn These Men And Women Who Died, We Should Also Thank God That Such People Lived

Day Is Done

“Finish each day and be done with it.

You have done what you could.

Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in,

forget them as soon as you can.

Tomorrow is a new day,

you shall begin it well and serenely…”

~Emerson

D DAY A PRAYER

I listen to Bill Bennett every morning while I’m getting ready for work.  This morning they were talking about the 64th anniversary of D Day.  They played President Roosevelt’s prayer on D Day. Yesterday Dr. Bennett interviewed Marcus Luttrell, The Lone Survivor.  A line in FDR’s prayer jumped out at me because Marcus conveyed the same thought in his interview yesterday.

“For these men are lately drawn from the ways of peace. They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let justice arise, and tolerance and goodwill among all Thy people. They yearn but for the end of battle, for their return to the haven of home.”

When I see the pictures of the the troops leaving the LCM’s on a beach landing, I think of my Dad. He piloted a Higgins boat, in the Pacific. That view, from the wheelhouse, was his. And it is shaped his life from then on.

My prayer today is that we remember those that have gone before and support those who “fight to liberate” today.

37 UNFORGETTABLE HOURS

June 3, 2008

37 Hours

That’s how long our weekend trip lasted.

DH and I were invited to SCEagle‘s reenlistment ceremony at one of the most meaningful and beautiful places I can think of.

12 hours driving, 6 hours sleeping, 19 hours…unforgettable (and priceless).

“We do not remember days, we remember moments”

For the most part I think this quote is true, for myself anyway. It’s hard to go back and reconstruct a day, moment by moment. What we remember are the highlights of any particular day. Any “average” day. However, there are some days…that stand out…that stay in memory moment by moment. Our trip to DC this past weekend will be one of those. Rather than give you a minute by minute accounting I think some photographs and a little word association will serve the purpose.

*HONOR* *DUTY* *COUNTRY* *COMMITMENT* *BROTHERHOOD* *OATH *HISTORY* *RESPECT* *FOCUS* *FUTURE* *FAMILY* *PRIDE* *LOVE* *JOY*

*GRATITUDE* (always)

*BROTHERHOOD”

*OATH*

*HISTORY*

*RESPECT*

It was an honor to be present and to represent Soldiers’ Angels.  And… I wish I had a representative like Senator DeMint.

Love, Mom (aka GrandMA) ;-)

FLIGHT 93 BLOGBURST: RALLY AT THE CRASH SITE ON AUGUST 2

Plan your trip to the Flight 93 crash site for the weekend of August 2nd!

Blogburst logo, petition

Are you thinking of visiting the Flight 93 crash site? If you plan your visit for the weekend of August 2nd, you can help stop the gigantic terrorist memorial mosque that will soon start rising from the ground there.

August 2nd is the next scheduled public meeting of the Memorial Project, where anyone can sign up to speak during the public comment period. Tom Burnett Sr. (whose son Tom Jr. broke into the cockpit of the hijacked airplane) announced last Friday that he and Alec Rawls will be traveling to Somerset for the August meeting. They will be rallying outdoors, speaking at the public meeting, and visiting the crash site.

Mr. Burnett is asking other concerned parties who can make it to please come. The crash site is a beautiful and meaningful place to visit in any case, and here is a chance to make your visit even more meaningful. It is an opportunity to in some small way follow the lead of the heroes of Flight 93 by helping to stop the re-hijacking of Flight 93.

Mr. Burnett’s announcement came on the Mancow Muller radio show, where Congressman Tancredo was also a guest. When controversy over the Crescent of Embrace design first arose back in 2005, Tom Tancredo was instrumental in forcing the Park Service to alter the design. Last fall he noted that the giant crescent remains unchanged in the so-called redesign and asked the Park Service to scrap the design entirely. On Friday he said that he would help Mancow Muller and Tom Burnett to stop the crescent design (audio, 19 seconds):

Certainly I will do everything I can to help you. I will bring it to the attention of my colleagues. I’ll use the time I have on the floor of the House to rail against it.

THANK YOU CONGRESSMAN TANCREDO!

Mr. Burnett said that he would join Mancow in going to jail for taking sledgehammers to the crescent memorial if this tribute to the terrorists actually gets built. (Audio, 25 seconds.)

Cao has the whole segment of Mancow and the two Toms up as a YouTube video, with her own background graphics.
